Why Walk?
We all need
Living Streets.
In a time of “living locally,” walking continues to be the most practical form of transportation for day-to-day living.
BEST has redesigned the Living Streets program to encourage British Columbians to walk for physical and mental health and to seek creative solutions to active transportation barriers in their communities.

Here's what the BC Alliance for Health Living says about walking
Dr. Mike Evans produced this compelling video about limiting your sitting and sleeping to just 23½ hours per day
Walking (and rolling) for recreation and leisure is a positive way to maintain mental health during challenging times
The cumulative, positive effect of walking is sometimes hard to see, especially in a pandemic! But as WalkBC says, “Our lives are not determined by what happens to us , but how we react to what happens; not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes. It is a catalyst ... a spark that creates extraordinary results."
