Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid full-time position with typical hours from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, with occasional weekend work as needed.

Compensation: $25/hr

BEST (Better Environmentally Sound Transportation) is seeking a dedicated Research and Project Coordinator to play a pivotal role in driving impactful initiatives in British Columbia.

About the Role

As a Research and Project Coordinator at BEST, you will spearhead the planning, coordination, and execution of diverse projects aimed at promoting sustainable transportation, community involvement, and equity, particularly among newcomers and seniors. You'll collaborate closely with stakeholders, lead research efforts, manage grants, and oversee project activities to ensure their success.

Responsibilities

Research Coordination

  • Assess, plan, and develop research initiatives focused on mobility justice in BC.

  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders, such as governments, universities, organizations, and institutions, to align research with BEST’s mandate.

  • Use research findings to influence policy, infrastructure improvements, and future BEST program development.

  • Lead grant research, applications, and writing efforts.

  • Ensure grant applications are aligned with BEST’s mission and research proposals.

  • Manage and oversee grants to support the expansion of BEST's impact.

Project Coordination

  • Acting as a spokesperson for Eco-Voyage, BEST’s new initiative focused on encouraging the use of multimodal transportation among newcomers through informative workshops and excursions.

  • Lead the team in planning, implementing, assessing, and reporting on initiative progress.

  • Build relationships with partners, stakeholders, and community organizations involved in project initiatives.

  • Develop materials, resources, and presentations for project activities, ensuring they are informative, engaging, and aligned with project objectives.

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to project outcomes, participant feedback, and community impacts.

  • Develop presentations and content based on project outcomes.

  • Manage project budget, secure funding and oversee volunteer coordination.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., urban planning, environmental studies, community development). Master’s degree is an asset.

  • Demonstrated experience in project coordination or community engagement roles.

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently manage multiple tasks.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster relationships and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and report writing.

  • Experience in grant writing and fundraising.

  • Passion for sustainability, community empowerment, and social justice.
